One day I was daydreaming of running through a field of tall grass, barefoot. The sun was shining, and there were white fluffy clouds playing across the sky. I began to write down what I was hearing.
Daydream started as an upbeat composition for viola and piano. As I was writing it down one of my daughters, soon to graduate college, phoned me to tell me she was going to move to Nashville, Tennessee from our family's home state of California to pursue her song-writing career. As a dad, I have always taught my daughters to have the courage to follow their dreams – and to dream big! Yet, I couldn't help it: I got quite emotional. Even so, I just kept writing down the music as I experienced it. Can you hear the moment early on when I received the news?
In a twist of irony, this duet debuted in Nashville.
